The following are areas of criminal defense that I actively pursue and defend:
Felonies:
  • I defend all types of felony charges including all types of drug charges. The importance of filing proper motions is essential to assure your constitutional rights are protected.

After theses motions are filed, the State has the burden to prove proper procedure was followed beginning with the arrest until the disposition of the matter. If the proper motions are not filed, your rights are not being properly protected.

I assure that all proper motions are filed and sufficient responses are received.

Misdemeanor:
  • I defend all types of misdemeanor charges ranging from simple battery to simple possession of marijuana to domestic violence. As is the case with felonies, proper pretrial motions are essential in protecting your constitutional rights.

In misdemeanor cases, you are entitled to a trial before a judge. The state bears the burden of proving beyond a reasonable doubt that you did in fact commit all of the elements of the crime you are charged with.

Juvenile Law:
  • Louisiana law as it relates to juveniles is different from majority law, i.e. 17 years and older. I have the knowledge and experience to properly represent these young adults and promote their best interest.
Traffic Tickets:
  • The arresting police officer is required to follow proper procedures in all traffic stops. Radar devices are required to be calibrated and documented periodically to assure their accuracy and authenticity. All these issues must be taken into consideration when looking at traffic violations.
Bond Reduction:
  • The purpose of a bond is to ensure that the arrested person will be present at all stages of the proceeding. There are many circumstances judges take into consideration in considering the reduction of an initial bond setting. This proceeding is very important as it is the factor to determine if the arrested person will remain in jail or be released.
Civil Forfeiture:
  • Civil Forfeiture in a criminal arrest are becoming more and more an issue after the arrest. It could be your vehicle, money, home and/or any other property which the State will allege is related to the criminal arrest. Proper pleadings and petitions are required to protect your best interest in all civil forfeiture cases. We are fluent with these procedures and will explain in detail at your consultation.
Substance Abuse:
  • Most people who have been arrested for some sort of substance abuse want and need help with their addictions. We understand this and make a diligent effort to get our clients the help they need so they may live a normal life. We work with Rehabilitation Centers, both inpatient and outpatient, as well as the Courts to afford any and all rehabilitation available.
